2009-2013. In 2009 I painted almost every branch, berry, and twig, with the goal of creating this chaotic piece of intense autumn color.   It is the autumn colors that move me, not so much the actual plants and berries.  But the drawing/painting was overwhelming to me (what do I paint, what do I not paint?) so I continued to work through "simplying" the chaos. As if you can simplify chaos.   I revisited this piece in 2011 which became so awfully dark that I put it to rest for another year.  At the end of 2012, I am much more at ease with the color and chaos.  Added some touch up in March of 2013.  It is finished. :)
Below are photos taken of the painting in progress.
